Palm Sunday Gosling Rescue in Action (With a Side of Honks)
Palm Sunday is supposed to be a peaceful day. A day of reflection, fresh starts, and maybe a cinnamon roll if you’re lucky. But this year turned into a Palm Sunday gosling rescue, full of peeps, feathers, and two lost little souls who reminded me what this season is really about. We’ll get to that in a second, but first, a little reminder from across town about the kind of kindness we’re all capable of (and aiming for).
Lovebirds on the Loose: Leo & Pia, A Pigeon Romance Worth Rooting For
Now, I didn’t personally rescue these birds, mine were just two locals, but I cheered so hard for them you’d think I raised them myself.
Leo and Pia are a bonded pigeon pair who got separated by a nasty storm. Like, rom-com-level separated. They ended up miles apart, confused and alone. Most folks might’ve shrugged it off.
But not this town.
People posted sightings, shared updates, and somehow, through the magic of compassion and a really solid local Facebook community, both pigeons were found. And when they were released back home? They reunited mid-air like a feathered ballet. It was beautiful. Emotional. The kind of love story Nicholas Sparks would write if he had wings.
It didn’t happen here. But it could. That’s the dream, building a community so kind, so aware, that no bird ever goes uncared for.
Palm Sunday Gosling Rescue: Two Lost Goslings and a Perfect Reunion
It was a quiet Palm Sunday morning when I spotted them, two baby Canada goose goslings standing alone by the water, peeping as if their little hearts were breaking. Just two tiny yellow fluffballs caught between safety and confusion, with no parents in sight.
But nearby? Two adult geese and two goslings of identical size stood close by, acting like they were one honk away from calling in reinforcements.
I couldn’t ignore the perfect match.
So I did what any reasonable person would do, I gently guided the lost babies toward the family and held my breath like it was the final scene of a movie.
And then it happened.
The parents spotted them. They honked frantically and stretched their wings wide. And those little feet? They paddled straight toward love.
It didn’t just look adorable, it felt holy. A Palm Sunday moment that captured what this season is truly about: redemption, reunion, and a second chance to get it right.
Easter in Action (With a Side of Honks)
You don’t need a sermon to understand grace when it plays out across a quiet lake. The lost were found. The broken became whole. And for a few moments, the world felt a little lighter.
