Cat House Raccoon Rescue: A Wild Story of Injury, Fight, and Fur

? Cat House Raccoon Rescue From Trap Injury to Safe Capture

? A Frantic Call and a Furry Mystery

This cat house raccoon rescue began with the kind of call that spikes adrenaline:
Theres a raccoon stuck in a car engine! I think his legs are broken!
Naturally, I grabbed my gear and headed out, ready for a worst-case scenario.
However, what I found was far less mechanicaland a whole lot funnier.

? Not in the Engine But Not Okay Either

To my surprise, there was no raccoon tangled in metal.
Instead, he was lounging comfortably inside a soft cat house, acting like hed booked the place for a week.
? A Closer Look Revealed Trouble
Although he seemed relaxed, his front leg told a different story.
It had clearly been caught in one of those nasty arm traps.
Thankfully, he had freed himselfbut not without injury.

? Operation Chaos: Catch Pole vs. Gloved Hands

Once I spotted him, I asked Tara to lift the lid on the carrier.
At first, she said, Im good, Im good, clearly not understanding what I was asking.
Eventually, she caught onjust in time for things to go sideways.
? A Classic Mistake (and Quick Recovery)
The raccoon wasnt having it. The catch pole failed.
So, I went with my backup plan: ditch the pole and dive in with gloved hands.
It wasnt pretty, but it worked.
He bit the glove, I maneuvered him into the carrier, and just like thatit was over.

???? That Time I Forgot an Entire Raccoon

Later on, I dropped off two raccoons at Broadbent.
I remembered this guy just fine.
However, I had no idea what the second ones story was.
Even worse, I had a video of the second rescue and still couldnt remember.
Clearly, it had been one of those weeks.

? Whats in My Raccoon Rescue Kit?

If youre professionally rescuing wildlife, heres what I never leave behind:
Bite-proof gloves
Catch pole (even if it gets tossed)
Sturdy carrier
Blanket or towel
Rabies vaccination
First aid kit
And yes a sense of humor
Without these, your day can get complicated real fast.

?? PleaseDont Try This at Home

Lets be clear: this isnt something the average person should attempt.
Even when injured, raccoons can be aggressive, unpredictable, and dangerous.
Instead, call a licensed wildlife rehabber or rescue group.

? Final Thoughts: One Cozy Cat House and One Tough Raccoon

In the end, this cat house raccoon rescue turned into a wild but rewarding challenge.
Hes now safe, healing, and hopefully on his way back to the wild.
As for me? Ill try to remember the next raccoon drop-off a little better. (No promises.)
