Celebrating Heroism: May 4th Through History
May 4 Wildlife Rescue History is more than just a calendar date, it’s a living timeline of the wild threads we’ve helped weave at Ruffled Feathers Parrot Sanctuary. From smoosh-faced baby animals wrapped in towels to a snapping turtle stalling traffic on Dixie Highway, our May 4s have been anything but ordinary. Each year, history echoes through the chaos of squawking parrots and the calm of quiet compassion, reminding us that even the smallest rescues ripple through time.
Looking Back: May 4 Wildlife Rescue History Through Time and Feathers
In 1494, the Treaty of Tordesillas marked a bold division of the New World. Consequently, this set the stage for future explorations. Similarly, in 1626, Peter Minuit’s acquisition of Manhattan for beads and baubles was an unexpected twist in history, illustrating how value can be perceived differently.

A Turtle on Dixie Highway: Modern May 4 History
1626: Manhattan is bought. Hundreds of years later, a snapping turtle is nearly lost to traffic.

Revolutionary Voices in May 4 Rescue History
By 1776, Rhode Island declared independence. Meanwhile, the elegance of Audrey Hepburn, born in 1929, reminded the world of quiet strength.

Modern Marvels: Leadership and Heroics
In 1979, the world witnessed another pivotal moment as Margaret Thatcher became the UK’s Prime Minister. Her leadership was strong and determined. Furthermore, 2008 introduced Iron Man, a superhero symbolizing a new age of resilience and technological marvels.

Brad’s Chronicles: Everyday Acts of Valor
From 2020 to 2023, Brad’s stories add vibrant threads to this tapestry of time. For instance, his rescues, from one-legged robins to rooftop goslings, resonate with the same courage and compassion that have echoed through history. Over the years, our May 4 wildlife rescue history has included everything from turtle traffic patrol to parrot-led comedy routines. Each year brings a new chapter.

Conclusion: Every Day a New Chapter
Reflecting on these narratives, we see that history is alive in our actions. Whether saving goslings or signing treaties, these small moments of courage and kindness are what truly shape our world. Thus, May 4th becomes a day of history, heroics, and heart. As we continue adding to our May 4 wildlife rescue history, we hope these stories remind others to slow down, look around, and protect the wild lives we share our world with.
What’s your favorite May 4th moment? Share your thoughts, and let’s keep writing history with every step, squawk, and story!

Sometimes we have to make sacrifices even on vacation. I couldnt let this family suffer anymore after 2 adults and 2 of the babies were ran over on 265. A nice lady stopped and not only moved the dead geese out of the road but caught the injured one and all the babies she could. Someone ran over one of the babies as she was trying to save it. They actually swerved and intentaly ran over a baby she was chasing. I see it all the time and it makes me sick that anyone feels so callously towards another life. Even more so that once again not a single person helped her stop traffic or bothered to help her at all. Everyone is just too damn busy to worry about things outside their normal daily routines. When did everyone become so darn important that lives around them in need mean nothing to them? Dont worry her family is safe here now and they are still together. Whats left of them. She has a broken foot, a damaged eye, and head trauma. Im letting her rest before I wrap her foot later. She is putting good pressure on it by sitting on it like she is doing. I like for them to calm down and rest after a head trauma not putting them through any extra stress until Im sure they are ready. I can ignore most things, give other options, or tell people they will have to do something on their own. But when I know Im the only one that could help her this time of day and I heard her car was crap I couldnt make her stress anymore after she had done so much for these geese already. Sometimes vacations just arent very relaxing. Lol glad I could still help tho.

I was told never to let any of these 3 birds around one another. In fact precious was kept away from the other two in a different room. Im not sure about what people tell me sometimes because it sure doesnt seem like they hate one another to me. I was also told no male has ever handled them that they hate males but I am the one that moved them on my hand out to the aviary today. Lol
